“Don’t muddy the issue. We’re half way through the month. Ish. And so half way through your first Blaugust. How’s it going?”
Okay, I think. I’m still posting daily, and generally don’t have to noodle on topics as much as I was expecting I would. A good portion of the time I sit to write my daily post and an idea just strikes me in the moment.
“Those are the best times.”
They’re right up there, for sure. I’m also starting to make some connections with other bloggers.
“Oh?”
Well… okay, blogger. Singular. Done a bit of cross-commenting, which is… I mean hey, it’s more than I was doing before now. That’s progress.
“It is.”
… and progress is good.
“It is.”
… and I’ve got another few topics written down and have started another one to post another day, and am actively trying to catch other ideas for posts as they come. It’s a whole new mindset.
“Seems like you’ve kind of taken to it.”
I realized a while back that I work better with self-imposed constraints. These deadlines are one of those. I guess rather than just posting when I wanted to post like I’ve been doing for years, having told people I was committing to posting daily for this totally made-up thing I was choosing to participate in, posting daily was suddenly something that was manageable.
“Kind of makes one wonder if carving out time every day to write is actually something you could do.”
Yes. It kind of does.
“Then I guess my job here is done.”
Is it?
“… for now. I know you better than you know yourself, dear boy, and you need occasional kicks in the ass to stop self-doubting. And to keep going. And to actually get things done.”
Fair enough. I’m on a bit of a roll now, so I’ll try to not have that be needed too soon.
“Please do.”
