What I read this month

May ended up being an unexpected windfall of material to read, and as it was generally pretty quick to get through, I made good headway with it.

I was in a library and wandered by the graphic novel section and came across the first three collected books of a series called Ascender. It took me part way into the second book to realize that what I thought was a story that dropped the reader into an active situation, as some do, was in fact the follow-up to a whole preceding series called Descender.

Wanting to get the events in order rather than have to reorient them in my head, I ordered all six of those books from the library and am just at the tail end of it now. Then I’ll get back into Ascender again.

And all that, mind you, is while A Close and Common Orbit, the sequel to the excellent A Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet, has been put on hold.
