Writing less, more

I recently read this (short!) post advising–with good reason–that people should write shorter stuff but more often.

It struck a chord with me.

I do, as I’m sometimes reminded (usually by my wife and daughter) tend to over-verbalize/over-write things. My wife sometimes tells me that when someone asks what time it is I tell them how to build a watch. And I’ve heard from at least one friend that he tried to read my blog posts but they were too long for his taste. I mean, he’s admitted in the past that he’s not much of a reader in general, but the fact is that if I wrote smaller blog posts, there would likely be more interest in them. Not everyone is up for a long read. I get that.

So I’m going to try to write posts more often but have less wordiness in them than I generally have. It won’t always work, I can promise that much. But I’ll strive toward cutting down the size of each post.

And hey, because this isn’t a New Year’s resolution, maybe it’ll actually work.

So, less stuff more often.

Let’s do this.
