New gig

I’m now officially employed by the LCBO as a summer customer service rep. Such short-term work can at times lead to being brought on for a permanent position, then potentially more hours and more choice in hours worked, so here’s hoping.

I’ve been working the last couple of days on the requisite twelve hours of online training–much to be learned, you can well imagine, as far as legal and ethical obligations regarding selling alcohol, how to handle various situations that can arise at the job, much video watching and reading to be done, etc.–and have my first in-store shift this coming week to get familiar with the store itself, the cashing system, and the like.

And what’s nice is that as I’ve only committed to be available Friday evenings and weekends, per the nature of this seasonal work, if my regular part-time work as a mid-day desk jockey at an info desk returns after getting put on indefinite hold when Covid lockdowns began, I’ll still be able to do that, as well, and will finally be bringing in some okay money for the first time in a long time.

Looking forward to the new work.
